Pilot Press is a boutique letterpress design and print studio in Sacramento specializing in announcements and invitations. From bridal shower invitations and personal stationary to full wedding collections, we do it all. Every piece is printed by hand on an antique (think 1891) press. We print exclusively on Crane’s 100% cotton (tree-free!) paper because we simply love the texture and the result it produces.

For those unfamiliar with letterpress, it’s a centuries old printing technique where a raised image is inked and pressed into paper creating a three-dimension affect, a result truly unique to letterpress. It is as much of a technique as it is a craft. Inks are mixed by hand, paper is hand-fed into the press one by one, and one color is printed at a time. Not too long ago, letterpress was the process by which everything from newspaper to letterhead was printed, but due to it's time consuming and labor-intensive process, today letterpress is mostly reserved for high end pieces. Nothing says luxury like letterpress.
